On Sunday, I caught up with an old friend I hadn’t seen in months.  Given we felt this was a special occasion, just because, we thought we would treat ourselves to the Bristol Lounge

Four Seasons Brunch

Having made a reservation for noon, we arrived promptly and were seated in the back corner of the restaurants right next to the bathroom walkway.  While the table did have views to the Boston Gardens, we absolutely did not want to a trail of people walking past the back of our chairs to the loo.  Not good.  We immediately asked to be moved, which they fully accommodated.  The place was packed but they seated us close to the center of the restaurant very near the outstanding selection of foods on offer.

Cooked Breakfast

I am not even sure where to begin with what’s on offer for brunch but let me try with the help of some photos.  A raw bar featuring jumbo shrimp and oysters, a fruit and salad bar, classic cooked breakfast of sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs, an omelet station, smoked salmon station, carving station and not forgetting the most ridiculously good looking dessert area.

Jumbo Shrimp

We started with oysters and shrimp followed by a little bit of smoked salmon and cream cheese.  We then moved onto the cooked breakfast with tasty pork sausages and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs.  Resting for a while, we enjoyed strong coffee quietly poured without us even knowing by our wonderfully attentive waiter.

Fruit and Salad Bar

Our next course was to sample some of the desserts.  My absolute favorite was the strawberry cream puffs followed closely the tiramisu.

A just ridiculous dessert area

The brunch at the Bristol Lounge is just first class.  Everything is prepared to perfection and showcased in an eye-catching and tempting way.

We took our time to catch up, ordered a mimosa each and contemplated the idea of more food.  There was no hope for either of us; we just couldn’t eat anything more.

My favorite – the Strawberry Cream Puffs

We asked for our bill and I have say we were both a little taken aback at the price.  The brunch is $68 a person.  Neither of us realized it would be that much and burst out laughing, more in shock than anything else.  The bill ended up being over $100 each with tip.  I would have thought $45/50 at the most.   I think I may have tried to eat more had I of known :).

The food is fantastic, the service typical Four Seasons top notch, however, I am not sure $68 is reasonable.  That all said, we had an absolutely delightful early afternoon and enjoyed our time and food.

If you want to treat yourself to a special brunch then I highly recommend the Bristol Lounge but the important thing to do is bring your appetite with you.
