“Named for the French term meaning “shared fantasies,” Folie à Deux wines represent the fulfillment of a dream to create a beautiful dance of flavors and true varietal expression.”

The Ménage à Trois Red is a go to wine for me when I just want to grab a nice simple wine.  This wine is easy to drink, fabulously priced and always a crowd pleaser when having a casual get together.

Okay – so get your mind out of the gutter and stop giggling. The name, Ménage à Trois, comes from the winemakers using three different young varietals in their wines and for the 2009 Red it seems to work quite nicely.  Albeit a very naughty name! They have such a fun website that you should check out.

The wine is a dark ruby color.  On the nose, it is initially very heady with a peppery and smoky aroma, which then leads to dark, luscious cherries.  The wine is full and chewy on the palate and then a has quick, jammy, sweet finish.  Once you start drinking the wine with more seriousness, it becomes silky and smooth and goes down a treat although still quite sweet.  I find this wine very rich tasting that almost makes you believe you are drinking a pricey bottle, rather than a more affordable bottle of vino.

A very decent wine for the price.

My rating…
