“Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what’s for lunch.”
― Orson Welles

I am a regular at Oak Long Bar & Kitchen in Copley Square.  Not only do I like the long bar, which runs the length of the long restaurant; I like the service, the food and the atmosphere.  Perhaps the atmosphere could be because I see more people my age.  This does not mean, all age groups do not frequent this fun establishment, it just means I like to see the 30-40 something crowd as much as I like hearing a familiar English accent.

If I go with friends we always gravitate towards their super pizzas to share with my favorite being the housemade Sausage pizza with caramelized onion and ricotta and of course one of their famous charcuterie boards.

When I go alone, usually after walking around the Newbury or Copley doing a little retail therapy, I lean more towards their lighter bites as it’s usually around 3 or 4pm in the afternoon.  Last Saturday, I tried for the first time their Tuna Tartar.  This dish is just perfectly, delicately chopped tuna with a light taste of mayo, creamy avocado and puffed rice and cucumber, which give it a bit of a crunch and makes it a little more special and unique.  Paired with a crisp summery Pinot Noir, Pascal Jolivet, Sancerre, France, 2013, I couldn’t have been happier.

TUNA TARTAR – xo mayo, puffed rice, avocado, cucumber – $18

If you are looking a lighter bite this dish is just right.
