The new(ish) stylish bar Z Bar, located in the luxurious Peninsula Hotel with its cool roof terrace celebrates a hand-crafted cocktail culture with an inventive selection of cocktails from the classic Old Fashioned and a rebirth of the Cosmo to exquisite combinations of elderflower, chrysanthemum and strawberry in the Sunday Spritz and gin, bergamot and cucumber in The Z.
The menu is fun to read with its cocktail descriptions and drawings. I was lured into tasting The Z for the first time for two reasons… I love gin and the blue martini glass is super fun. The taste did not let me down. The refreshing combination of clean gin, crisp fresh cucumber and a heady bergamot zing with just a spritz lime is sublime.
If you ever find yourself in the downtown area rain or shine, it’s definitely worth stopping by the bar for a fabulously fun cocktail, some nibbles and a bit of a laugh with the stranger sat next to you. Its extra special in the warmer months where you can sit outside on deep sofas and enjoy an indulgent afternoon.
