Tablescapes Through the Years: A Journey of Glitter and Gratitude

Hosting a dinner party is my version of an Olympic sport. Menu planning? Check. Pinterest scrolling until my thumbs cramp? Check. The fine art of making it all look effortless while secretly orchestrating a small symphony of plates, glasses, and napkins? Double check.

Over the years, my tablescape arsenal has grown into something of a treasure trove, courtesy of Amazon rabbit holes, Wayfair steals, Anthropologie sales, and thoughtful friends who know my love language is “cute dishware.” From chargers to napkins to centerpieces, I’ve amassed enough to make Martha Stewart give me a slow nod of approval.

Each dinner party is a new design challenge. Will it be rustic charm or modern glam? Seasonal vibes or a color explosion? Whatever the theme, I start setting the table days in advance—because, let’s be honest, “just right” takes a little obsessive tweaking. (And possibly some pep talks to my gold flatware.)

My most recent tablescape might just be my masterpiece. Gold was the star of the show—elegant, shiny, and just a little extra, like me on a good day. The side plates? A chef’s kiss deal of $4.25 each (down from $45!) at Anthropologie. I nearly caused a scene in the clearance section when I realized the price wasn’t a typo. The gold napkins? A cool 65 cents each on Amazon. Proof that you don’t need a trust fund to make your table sparkle—just some strategic bargain hunting and maybe a glass of wine to celebrate your finds.

Speaking of wine, here’s my golden rule for hosting: Save the splurge for what’s in your glass. 🍷 Your guests will admire your table, but they’ll toast to your excellent taste in wine.

So here’s to many more years of tablescapes that bring a little magic (and a lot of joy) to my dining room. Cheers!
