After a fun and delicious dinner with the girls on Saturday night at Sel de la Terre (now closed) we decided on dessert, maybe even an alcoholic dessert at Max Brenner’s.

Walking in I honestly thought that Valentine’s quite literally threw up on Max Brenner’s – ugh it’s really Valentine’s Day.  I know I sound so negative but it was red and hearts and love stuff everywhere.  Would I like it if I was in a relationship?  Now there’s a question.  I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day but I am a fan of chocolate!

The four of us were seated immediately – it was 10pm and the place was packed!  The overwhelming chocolate menu was placed in front of us and we eagerly scoured the pages for something to meet our individual tastes.

Barbara already knew what she wanted – Italian Hot Chocolate in a “hug mug” – very cute.  Thick, sweet and warming and the mug is perfectly designed to wrap your hands around.

Sarah ordered a make your own Hot Chocolate.  Arriving in its own heated pot of hot milk where you can spoon in the chocolate shavings, add even more frothy milk and finally drink it through the long handled spoon which doubles as a straw.

Kathleen decided on a more adult beverage of Max’s White Russian – Absolute Vodka, Kaluha, White Chocolate and served on the rocks.

I was a little boring and ordered a Cabernet.  However, before you judge me I did order the European Chocolate Fondue for all of us to share.  Three little pots of dark, milk and caramel goodness ready and waiting to smother bites of banana, sweet strawberry, fluffy marshmallows, dense brownies and crumbly cookies.  All good, all really fatteningly too good!!  My favorite is the dark chocolate.

The American girls were setting fire to their marshmallows and claiming they were making s’mores – a strange American tradition thing :).  I did try them and okay yeah they were American yummyness.  My first s’more!

Another cocktail for Kathleen of Berry Lovely – Absolute Berry Acai Vodka, Chambord, Fresh Raspberry Sauce and White Chocolate.  I did try this drink and it was absolutely amazing!

There is a fun vibe to dining at Max Brenner’s.  Lots of young adults around college age, love birds and girls on a night out.  Dessert and cocktails were amazing, oh and set my diet back about three weeks.

I am staying in on Valentine’s night.  I may watch the David Beckham commercial and of course I will be watching Toni DiNozzo on NCIS, but all you chocolate love birds out there might want to check out Max Brenner’s!
