It’s time for the 2020 Rosé round up and I am once again humbly offering to do all the drinking legwork for my readers… I am truly a generous soul. While I could share many many wines with you, I am focusing on 5 for this post. From the flirty pink color to the summer fruit aromas to the fun infusion of happiness each sip gives you! They just bring joy and boy do we all need some joy right now!
I love dry Rosés with something special and these are all just the delightful ticket inviting sunshine into anyone’s life that’s lucky enough to drink them. Oh and just for fun, I have also paired them with a song they remind me of.
L’Oliveto Rosé of Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma
I am not going to lie, I have been a little bit obsessed with this Rosé. It has become a regular in my Wholefoods cart for the past few months. A super pretty salmon pink color wine with early hints of luscious strawberry. The first sip is alive with bright citrus notes and finishes with fresh tastes of cantaloupe. This is a beautifully rounded summer wine, which beckons its drinker to keep drinking. Retails around $16. Song: I Just Can’t Get You out of My Head, Kylie Minogue – a fun summer catchy song.
Frescobaldi Ammiraglia Alie Rosé, Toscana
My go to local, The Dearborn introduced me to this fabulous Rosé. A beautiful, sophisticated wine with a vibrancy that surprises with a little bit of effervescent delight. Aromatic notes of stone fruit on the nose, which made me believe it was going to be more of a creamy Rosé. Instead it has an abundance of fresh bright red grapefruit and lingers with cherries. This is honestly a really surprising different take on Rosé and I love it! Retails around $17. Song: Begin the Beguine, Sammy Davis Jr. – pure class!
Caves D’esclans Whispering Angel, Provence
The Queen of Rosé! I discovered Whispering Angel years ago and have been drinking it ever since. This Rosé charms and satisfies the taste buds with under-ripe strawberries and a bone dry finish. Whispering Angel is seriously drinkable so be careful. I very much appreciated the Magnum bottle my friend bought for my birthday last year. Retails from $18-24. Song: Don’t speak, No Doubt – a song I have loved since it came out in 1995 and is still on my playlist today.
Porter Family Sandpiper Rosé, Napa Valley
One of my Wine Clubs, Porter Family brings out a new Rosé every year and it is a highlight of my summer. This wine presents piles of berry fruits with strawberries leading the charge but not sweet at all. Think of that first strawberry you taste in the spring that is just perfection – this is it. It rests in the mouth and bounces with a refreshing watermelon crush taste. A little more on the pricey side and absolutely worth it at $32. Song: Watermelon Sugar, Harry Styles – summer, colorful and a little quirky.
A fab affordable find, the Yes Way Rosé is a great, anti-snob, very fun wine to drink with friends, preferably alfresco. This wine is the palest of peach color with little immediately on the nose except for a touch of citrus fruits. Tasting brings a lively fruit salad with red berry fruits at the helm. It’s probably the driest and crispest of all of wines featured here and it reigns supreme in easy, whoops did I really drink a bottle, wine! Want to know about Yes way Rosé, check out their book Yes Way Rosé: A Guide to the Pink State of Mind. Retails around $12. Song: No Diggity, Blackstreet featuring Dr. Dre & Queen Pen – similar to the wine, this song just makes me smile.
Have you tried these wines? Which one is your favorite? Or do you have a favorite you would like to recommend?
I am a fan of Whispering Angel! I currently have a bottle of M Minuty from Provence chilling in my refrigerator.
Oh that’s another fave of mine. Honestly, this list could have A LOT of great Roses right now.
I just discovered Yes Way Rose as well and love it! I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of your recommendations!
You know how i love my Angel! I cant wait to try your first fave!
(Also – big fan of Miraval too 🙂
The O’Liveto is super. Get it from Wholefoods on sale right now for around $13.
Thanks for introducing me to O’Liveto on Saturday! So many wines, so little time!
It paired so well with the Eurovision Netflix movie 🙂
