Hill Family Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2013

On a recent trip to Napa Valley and the wonderful little town of Yountville, I was introduced to the Hill Family Estate Tasting Room.  I loved this place and our tastings so much I joined their wine club.  I have already done a review of the utterly fabulous “Red Door” 2012 and couldn’t wait to try a few more wines.

This weekend I enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc 2013 while having an evening alone watching Thor: The Dark World and making a fantastic dinner of Mediterranean Shrimp with Linguine.  This is truly not sad as it may seem as it is the first weekend where I have had no plans in what seemed like months.  I loved every second of it.

The Hill Family Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is 99% Sauvignon Blanc & 1% Semillon.  It is almost clear in color with a slight tinge of moss green.  There is sweet sharpness on the nose with hints of nectarine and peach.  The first sip is incredibly full-bodied and sharp with fruits of melon, cantaloupe and nectarine.  I immediately liked it as it dances on the tongue with mild citrusy delight.  It is instantly delicious and fills every part of your mouth with a robust fullness.  After a while the sharpness disappears and then smooths into a vibrant very drinkable Sauvignon Blanc.

This is a fun weekend wine to enjoy with friends or alone with Mediterranean Shrimp Linguine, which by the way was a fantastic pairing.
