“I am not a glutton – I am an explorer of food”

I try to make it my business to try some of the best restaurants in any city that I travel to. It is my gift to you J. Of course, it is incredibly tough and exhausting work for me but I am a giver.
During my recent weekend trip to Chicago, lots more to come on this fun weekend, I tried a restaurant called Nellcôte located in Chicago’s Randolph Street Corridor. Nellcôte was recommended to me by a colleague who used to live in Chicago quoting… “it is the coolest restaurant in Chicago!” I have to say it is quite cool indeed.
Let’s just focus on my favorite dish of theirs and one that I highly recommend for anyone planning a visit… the Sunnyside Up Organic Egg Fork & Knife Pizza.
A thin crisp pizza smothered in mouthwatering fontina and mozzarella cheese, bitter arugula and a fresh sunny side up egg. Our waiter asked if we would like our pizza sliced. We said yes and as he cut through the pizza the yokey goodness of the egg ran over the rest of the pizza. The combination of these simple ingredients on a thin crust with perfectly crispy edges is irresistible. I would order this pizza again and again. This was my favorite dish of my dining experience at Nellcôte. Hmm maybe I will try to replicate at home.
By the way, I did have to google what D.O.P. means. For your information, and mine, it stands for the Italian phrase Denominazione d’ Origine Protetta (roughly, “protected designation of origin”). I assume this means the Fontina is actually from Italy.
Do you have a fabulous dish you want to feature?
