Last week I received an invite from a PR friend to head over to the Mass Ave area of Back Bay for the opening of the new sister restaurant to Dumpling Palace in Chinatown. The invite was for guests to taste the new restaurant and takeout menu. I happily accepted as dumplings are one of my crave foods and asked my friend Kathleen to join me on this dumpling tasting adventure.
The restaurant is more of a very casual café right across the street from Berkeley School of Music. For me it would not be a place I would go to dine but would absolutely do takeout. I am sure its going to be winner with the student crowd. I know if I was still a student, this would be my late night dine place!
The menu offers of course a plethora of dumplings from beef, chicken, pork to vegetables. I may have actually eat my weight in dumplings, which I think are the new trend food taking over from the Taco craze. They were stomach groaning good. My favorites of the evening were the chicken dumplings.
Many other menu offerings were brought out for us to taste during the early evening from noodles to chicken fingers and pancakes. I especially liked the crab rangoons, which brought back memories of suffering Sundays long forgotten.
While, I didn’t get to try everything, I can say I now have a new takeout restaurant on my list for dumplings.
