What’s better than Rosé on a warm Saturday afternoon?  Well, I can tell you…  Margaritas!  Yes, this glorious Tequila based cocktail was delivered to me in the form of the ultimate Classic Margarita on the rocks with salt and it was delicious!

My friend, Erika and I were embarking on a day of cocktails, small plates and shopping.  We started our late afternoon adventure at La Casa De Pedro in the Seaport area of Boston.

La Casa De Pedro opened its second location in Seaport last year.  Its Watertown restaurant has long been a loved mainstay of the MA dining scene with Pedro at the helm of his family business personally welcoming his customers into the warmth of color and smiles of his restaurants.

The Seaport location is much larger with a huge bar, dining room and outside seating.  A delivery truck is featured at center making you feel like you are in a small South American village.  Given the afternoon was clearing up nicely with some sun and a warm breeze we sat outside on the patio, which was relatively quiet on this early Saturday afternoon.

I felt the draw towards a cocktail, which surprised both myself and Erika given I am a wine lover and rarely stray from that list.  Margaritas were on my mind!

My classic margarita was strong, smooth and salty fantastic.  Erika added a little passion fruit to hers, which gave it that mango peachy flavor of being at an island beach bar.

Margarita Clasica Jose Cuervo Traditional Silver tequila – $11 (Infused with Passion Fruit for Erika)

The menu offers a great list of ceviche, tapas and tacos and larger portion entrées.  For this stop along our Saturday adventure we were focused on just a few bites to share.  An order of fried yucca and sautéed shrimp kicked off our afternoon.

The chunky fried ‘yuca’ has a crispy outside and irresistibly soft and fluffy insides.  Really good!

Yuca de Emmy – Fried yuca with cilantro sauce – $8.50

Our huge shrimp (4 shrimp) came whole in a warm olive oil with flavors of garlic with a tang of lime and cilantro and a side of crusty bread.  The shrimp was awesome and the olive oil made for a fantastic dipping sauce for the fried ‘yuca’.

Camarones al Ajillo – Sauteed shrimp with garlic, lime, cilantro, olive oil – $14.50

La Casa De Pedro offers fun $2 food happy hours and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
