Nestled down a little cobbled street in Harvard Square, welcoming staff, celebrated exquisite food and intimate, unpretentiousness awaits. Welcome to Harvest in Cambridge.
Looking to branch out beyond Boston for brunch my friend, Kady and I settled on heading to Harvest. I hadn’t been to Harvest in absolutely years so after looking at the brunch menu I was in.
This Cambridge mainstay welcomes its patrons to a New England, dark woods and colorful art restaurant. It boasts three areas for dining from the bar area (a favorite location for me), the main dining room, which feels a little more formal and the patio, which is where we were seated on Sunday. I love the patio (garden café) area with its fireplace, flower boxes and bright and airy feel, especially for an easy-going Sunday brunch.
I was the first to arrive and was immediately waited upon by our gracious waiter. A mimosa was in order for this gorgeously sunny Sunday. Kady arrived 5 minutes later and ordered the same.
The brunch menu offers oysters, salads, granola bowls and charcuterie boards to start off your dining experience followed by entrées of eggs benedict, burger, lobster roll and biscuits and gravy.
We started with the strawberries and radicchio, a brilliant dish of color brought with it sweet beets and bold radicchio combined with creamy burrata and crunch walnuts.
Kady followed this with the honey Greek yogurt and granola, which she loved.
I picked a favorite brunch dish of smoked salmon eggs benedict. A delightfully creamy hollandaise covers perfectly poached, runny yoke eggs and piles of wonderful smoked salmon and soft muffins. Crispy asparagus and cherry tomatoes add a nice side to this classic brunch dish instead of potatoes.
The rest of our afternoon was spent sipping mimosas and catching up with no rush or push from the waitstaff to leave. A truly splendid afternoon.
Harvest wasfantastic as always and I can’t wait to go back again for dinner and wine.
