There are some joys to my many roles at work. One of them is getting a very sweet thank you in the form of a bottle of wine for an event I did – Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico 2009. Left on my wine shelf for a while, I had forgotten about this wine and was so excited to come across it the other night.
I love that glug sound of wine being poured into a big round class. It’s a tantalizing thrill of something great to come.
This Chianti is a gorgeous rich garnet color when you pour. Luscious aromas of deep dark cherries and spicy rich coffee. The wine gives off a ripe sweetness that makes you ponder if it will have a similar taste. Well, no time like the present to check! An almost exact mimic of the aroma – sweet and exploding with overripe black cherries with a hint of peppery spice and licorice. Oh boy was I enjoying my first sip. My second sip brought more bursting cherries and a rich bold and smooth, velvety finish that stays with you for some time.
Big fan of this outstanding Chianti. What an absolute treat for me.
