I half expected to be greeted by ancient philosophers or a royal procession. Instead, I got something even better: world-class wine. Modeled after the grandeur of Persepolis, this winery is as much a temple to Persian heritage as it is to the art of winemaking.

Back in August, I raved about their Viognier, a white so revelatory it practically demanded a standing ovation. Today, though, it’s all about their 2023 Napa Valley Chardonnay—a wine that laughs in the face of overly oaked, butter-drenched California Chards and says, “Let’s keep it fresh.”

This Chardonnay is clean, crisp, and delightfully refreshing. Right away, the nose gets a playful tickle of zesty lemon, followed by the soft, inviting aroma of ripe pears.
