Last year a friend gave me the gift of wine. It’s a common gift I get and one that is always welcome in my home… any time. In fact, just the other day there was a bottle of wine leaning against the front door of my condo. This was an apology gift from the new downstairs owners who have made my life utter misery with doing a full gut project on the space that has been going on for 4 weeks and will continue for goodness knows how much longer. I honestly feel like I am going to open my eyes and there will be a contractor stood over me with a hammer or drill. It’s that loud!
Williams Selyem Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013
Anyway, back the gift from the friend. An outstanding bottle of Williams Selyem Pinot Noir 2013. To start, I am not normally a fan of wines which are on the sweeter side as this one is, but this wine is special with extraordinary taste that just works. At first there are overtones of light sweet fruits such as strawberry, which is then followed by a mild clove spice. The wine hits sweet right on the tip of the tongue and continues with a dancing light rain of glee. After the wine has been opened for a time the sweetness subsides a touch and what you are left with is a truly sophisticated, medium, smooth bodied red. This is such a chic wine to drink. More on the pricey at $58~ but worth it for that rare indulgent treat to enjoy at home.
