Itâs not that I am a snob about how I like my Espresso Martiniâs; itâs that I am particular, quite particular. I imagine my friends are embarrassed by how specific I can get with exactly what I am looking for in a restaurant or bar. I donât like it cream based, I donât like it sweet and I really like to taste the espresso. My tastes are very simple indeed.
The simplicity of making this perfect for me Espresso Martini was highlighted during my trip to Charleston this past New Year when I dined at High Cotton a really cool jazz restaurant with my friend, Kerry.
High Cottonâs most popular drink is indeed the Espresso Martini which has given it a âworld famousâ title. I loved this cocktail so much I think I may have had two, actually it was probably three. My limit these days is usually one. They were that good!!
This past weekend when I couldnât get up the energy to once again to leave the house as the weather is taking its toll on my happy disposition, My friend (Kerry) suggested an early Espresso Martini made the High Cotton way. I was soooo excited, I immediately agreed and I have to say it equaled how good it was on New Yearâs Eve. I had two! A dark martini with a frothy top and chocolate around the rim of the glass. Just the way I like it.
This recipe is tweaked a tiny bit on ingredients. We used Nespresso and good dark chocolate cocoa powder rather than Swiss Miss, but everything else is as they suggested on the website.
Kerry did make her martini with coconut vodka and a little half & half.
