Last week myself and my good friend BosGuy were both invited to a Blogger social media event at Mistral for the Columbus Hospitality Group. I love these types of events, not only to be recognized as a Boston Blogger, which is such a wonderful feeling in itself, but to also meet the Blogger world in our amazing Boston Strong city. There really is a camaraderie amongst this group of passionate people and of course it is such a thrill for a fellow blogger to comment positively about your own site.
The Columbus Hospitality Groupowns some of my favorite restaurants… Mistral, Teatro and Sorellina. There are also others that I didn’t realize were part of this group like Mooo and L’Andana but also XV Beacon and The Inn at St. Botolph. This event was a coming together of all of these places for a tasting and networking evening in Mistral’s private dining room.
Set up like a tiny Taste of the South End but called #TasteOfCHG, our first stop was at the bar, of course. I ordered a citrusy crisp glass of Villa Antinori Toscana White wine, while BosGuy picked one of the special cocktails of the night SpringThyme – a fun “thyme” vodka drink.
We worked our way around the room enjoying fig and prosciutto sausage from Teatro, which I enjoyed rather a lot, three in fact. The chilled pea soup, a refreshing taste of peas with a dollop of creamy ricotta from Sorellina. L’Andana, one of their restaurants I have never been to offered a skewered swordfish with red pepper and onion that were so sweet, I had two more. Mooo offered beef sirloin sliders, which I left to BosGuy to try and enjoy, which he did very much. Mistral served one of my favorite appetizers they have on their menu, the tuna tartare, which I have raved about many times in the past. As we enjoyed the delights of each restaurant, Mistral passed around small slices of their awesome pizzas followed by cones of gelato and ice cream.
CHG has also announced their plan for the One Fund in order to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Stop by any one of their five restaurants on Wednesday, May 1 in order to be part of this event and do your bit. A portion of all sales will be donated. The evening ended with a fun raffle. Neither myself nor BosGuy won anything but we did have a great time meeting the staff, fellow bloggers and of course the tasting itself.
