Peju Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Napa Valley

Peju is a winemaker I gravitate towards when I want to do a Cabernet Sauvignon that is a little on the higher-end without breaking the bank.  I rarely think about this winery for their whites but my mind may have recently been changed by the gift of Peju Sauvignon Blanc from two of my work friends.  The gift was given to me prior to having to head back home to England.  My intention was to wait until I got back to Boston and then enjoy this wine with a friend or two.  Well, a terribly guilty admission here on...

An Experiment in Expensive vs. Inexpensive Wine

I am sure you have heard about all of the blind tasting experiments which have tested sommelier’s palates and proved some really cannot tell the difference between a highly expensive and low cost bottle of wine.  The most famous of all being the Judgement of Paris competition in France in 1976 where a Californian wine defeated a French wine in a blind tasting.  The movie Bottle Shock was based on this competition. A Chef’s Table Tasting at the Westin, Copley Place, Boston

I have the privilege of being able to dine out quite a bit for work.  I get to go to places I wouldn’t generally go to and indulge in something more than the everyday dining experience.  So, it goes without saying that on occasion my day job and my passionate blogger’s world can collide in a very fortuitous way.  After an invite from the folks at the Westin to enjoy a Chef’s Tasting in their kitchens at Copley Place I felt compelled to write a post about this incredible experience. Before heading down to the kitchen, we first got...

Jimmy Choo Lorna 100 Suede Peep Toe Booties

I need to start this post with a reprimanding comment to myself of…  “Oh no she didn’t!”  But of course the answer is “Oh yes I did!” So, how did this happen?  Well, as usual it was my friend’s fault.  To be clear, I am rarely at fault when I buy expensive shoes, there is always someone else to blame. My friend, Erika wanted to buy her first pair of Christian Louboutins.  Buying your first pair deserves a day trip involving wine and friends so naturally I made myself available.    I decided to go into Back Bay a...

Jana Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Napa valley – Silenus Winery

A few years ago I became a club member of Silenus Winery in Napa Valley.  Silenus is a small winery which produces its own label of wines.  I always get excited with this delivery as you never know what are you going to get and I am always happily surprised with the selection.  The reason being is while I love my Silenus label wines, what I really liked about this winery is that in addition to their own wines they also offer their equipment to gifted winemakers to create wines under their own label.  One of these labels is...
