A few weeks ago I received an invite to a Twitter wine tasting for The Divining Rod. I have done a few of these before and have always found them a lot of fun. It is also good to try something a little different. I agreed to the invite and also invited five of my girlfriends over to join me in the tasting and a little bit of dinner.
Marc Mondavi, creator The Divining Rod wines has a unique “supernatural” gift that gives him the ability to locate underground water using divining rods. Check out The Divining Rod website, it’s totally fascinating.
The box arrived from The Divining Rod with a Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a pair if divining rods.
While I was busy making Antipasto Salad and Seafood Paella (recipes to follow this week), the girls enjoyed a selection of cheeses while having a bit a laugh with the rods. I kid you not they truly turn on their own. Even I tried it and it freaked me out a little bit.
When doing a Twitter Wine tasting, it can be a bit hectic with numerous people across America all tasting the wines at the same and tweeting like crazy. Sadly, I had technical trouble so only got a few tweets (#TDRWines) out, but that did not stop us have a great time tasting the wines.
While we enjoyed our appetizer of Antipasto Salad we opened the first bottle for tasting… The 2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay. Full of citrus vibrant aromas. Immediately crisp and sharp on the palate with distinct tastes of lemon and lime. Quite lovely and unexpected with little to no oak and filled with strong fruits like pineapple and grapefruit. If you like bright, clean Chardonnays this is one for you.
