The girls were well into the cocktails and Sangria and had already cleaned a bowl of freshly made guacamole – that they were raving about but sadly there was none left for me.  There was really only one thing to do!  As soon as I arrived a super friendly waiter came over to tell me the drink special of Tequila and something – I honestly can’t remember, but I ordered one anyway and the guacamole.

Mr. Guacamole (he told me to call him that) came over minutes after I placed my order and asked how I would like my gauc.  As Kathleen is anti-spicy I told him to make it mild to medium.  He spent the next five minutes putting together what looked liked the best dip ever… and it was!  Fresh, citrusy, a little kick and fantastic!

We also ordered a couple of other appetizers of Quesadillas, Queso Fundido, and my friend who is getting ready for a trip to Aruba (I am jealous) ordered a very healthy Shrimp and Avocado Salad. We also ordered a couple of other appetizers of Quesadillas, Queso Fundido, and my friend who is getting ready for a trip to Aruba (I am jealous) ordered a very healthy Shrimp and Avocado Salad.

The Quesadillas was absolutely delicious.  I couldn’t eat it all because I had eaten about 15lbs of guacamole, but I gave it a really good go until I was groaning.  My friends agreed the food at Papagayo was great.  We need to go back to try more from the rest of the menu!

I then decided to order a White Sangria, which was recommended to me by Kathleen, and it was worthy of a recommendation.  Crisp and tangy and fresh and a fabulous change from just ordering wine.

On walking through the bar and restaurant, I noticed that there were lots of fun crowds from the business to artsy to grungy to young to older – I loved it.  Most places cater to one crowd but I loved that this seemed to have lots of little corners of groups.  What a fun eclectic mix and a good decision to not go straight home.

I am fan of Papagayo… and it is in my neighborhood so I couldn’t be happier.
